Shows I Have My Eye on in 2018

Hellooo! Even though it's no longer the start of the year anymore, I thought I'd talk through some of the theatre productions I've got my eye on in West Yorkshire for the first half of 2018. Most of these are UK tours so wherever you are in the country, there should be something coming to a theatre near you! I'll make sure to add in links for booking tickets to the shows I mention. First up I had my eye on Cinderella at the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford! As this panto has now been and gone (must get better at blogging!) there is a review up from my experience!

Looking towards the rest of the year, March and April are busy times in my theatre spreadsheet! Yes you read that right. I have a spreadsheet where I type up shows that are on at nearby theatres so I can keep track of everything! Week commencing the 12th of March, The Importance of Being Earnest runs for a week at the Manchester Opera House. I've never seen a play before and with Kerry Ellis starring in this one, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to give it a go! The same week, a local theatre group are performing Made In Dagenham at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield. Tickets are pretty cheap so I think I'm going to see what that's like!

Week commencing the 19th March is a busy one! The Band opens in Leeds at the Grand Theatre for 2 weeks, Miss Saigon opens at the Manchester Palace Theatre for 8 weeks and Fat Friends The Musical opens at the Manchester Palace Theatre for a week. I've decided I definitely want to see Miss Saigon at some point during its run in Manchester and I'm very tempted to take a return visit to The Band! I've got reviews up for The Band and Fat Friends so if you're interested, give them a read to see what I thought of them!

Next up, Spring Awakening opens at the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester week commencing the 26th March for 6 weeks which is near the top of my list of what I want to see! I've never been to that theatre and I'm interested in going to more smaller venues rather than the larger venues so this seems like a great opportunity!

Skipping ahead to April! Week commencing the 23rd, An Officer and a Gentleman opens at the Grand Theatre in Leeds and 9 to 5 opens at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfeld. Both of these are performing for a week and I'm VERY interested in seeing both of them so we shall see if I have the time and/or money!

Week commencing the 11th June, Wicked's UK tour opens at the Leeds Grand Theatre! I have a front row seat booked for one performance which I am VERY excited about! However, I'm very tempted to book a ticket for another performance because Wicked is my favourite musical and I just love it SO MUCH! Need to take advantage of it being in the North!

These are just a few of the shows on my list of shows I want to see but there are plenty of others on tour throughout the UK! Hairspray, Crazy For You, Flashdance, Evita, Beautiful - The Carole King Musical, Jersey Boys, Shrek The Musical and Legally Blonde are all touring up and down the UK to name but a few. There's plenty of theatre going on all over the country so have a Google and see what's on at a theatre near you! Oh! I also have tickets booked for The Vamps and Katy Perry's UK tours this year which I'm also VERY excited about! Thanks for reading!

Sophie
